CHINN SIGNS ON THE DOTTED LINE
Posted Wednesday 8th June 2005
The club have clinched a great new signing in the shape of
Gordon Chinn, a left handed bat and left arm spin bowler with a fabulous
pedigree in local cricket.
He lists Hyde, Dukinfield, Denton St Lawrence, and Droylsden
amongst the more local clubs he has played for and has always scored stacks
of runs wherever he has been, with a goodly haul of wickets thrown in for
good measure.
Aged 41, he still has some good cricket left in him and will
undoubtedly bolster our batting line up for the rest of what is clearly
going to be a difficult campaign.
Good luck Chinny, I just know you will enjoy your time with
the mighty Motties.

Due to the continuing problem of poor drainage on our ground
the committee have set up a special fund to help finance the necessary
remedial work which could cost in the region of £20,000
Of course, the club will pursue any grant aid there may be
available but whatever financial assistance we receive, we will nevertheless
have to find up to as much as half the amount ourselves.
Already, the fund is up and running and a donation from
Tameside MBC of £300. 00 towards ball sponsorship gave it some nice
impetuous with a further pledge of £180.00 from our Webmaster Mr Paul Nixon
of Computing Solutions swelling the coffers.
Football cards will be passed around after every home match
throughout the season, which should raise another £20.00 per week.
It is our intention to arrange more friendly games this year,
which should help generate more income as well as providing much needed
match practice and there is a club single wicket competition in the
pipeline.
On Friday 1st July George Garside is holding one of his now
legendary Race Nights and if supported well enough this event could realise
somewhere in the region of £600.
On Sat June 25th, a guitar duo called “Steel” will be
performing live at the club and there will be a BBQ to boot, all for the
price of just £5.00 per ticket.
In August or September we hope to be holding a Golf Day at
Dukinfield golf club. If the last one is anything to go by there is a real
chance of raising some serious money.
The success of this venture is largely down to the membership
of Mottram Cricket Club and with every person pulling in the same direction
there is no reason why we cannot achieve our goal.

Hey up everyone,
It's nearly here, just a couple of weeks away now and there are still two
Mondays left to hone your skills in the indoor nets at St Augustines school
in Oldham 7.30 till 9.00. Don't forget the cabaret night on Sat April 16th
which is now a buffet instead of curry. Tickets are only £5.00 each. On the
same day we will be having a working party to get the ground and clubhouse
ready for the coming season. Bring a paint brush!!! The new cub shirts
should all be back from the embroiderers by then so mosey on down. Cheers,

Mottram U13 Boys Make Tameside
Squad
Mottram Under 13 boys Ryan Nixon
& Ryan Fitton have this week been selected to join the Tameside squad.
Both boys are pupils at West Hill School in Stalybridge, & both played in
last year's Mottram U13's team & were both involved in the highly successful
U11's team which won the regional divisions of the Tameside & Derbyshire &
Cheshire leagues. Both of the lads played important roles in the cup
competitions, including that memorable final against Hayfield which took
place at Cale Green Stockport.
The club & the boys' families are
extremely proud of their selection, & hope they go on to acquit themselves
for Tameside as they have done for their club.
