New Bar to be built for the start of the season.
Having
served us well for almost 30 years the old brick structure is soon
to be demolished and replaced by a modern all singing & dancing new
bar.
It will be
a sad day for all those of us who have propped it up ( or was it the
other way round) over the years. It has witnessed many special
days….centenary celebrations, great victories, the passing away of
old friends, weddings and divorces and the first taste of the amber
nectar for many a young lad.
Builders
are due to commence work in late February and all being well the bar
will be up and running for the start of the season in mid April.
Working parties will be required on Saturday 7th Feb to demolish the
old structure so please come along and give a hand. For further
details give John Marsden a ring on 07798896263.
The first
phase will include the building of the new bar and entrance area and
a revamp of the lounge. Future work will include new windows and
shutters and a revamp of the dining area / TV lounge.
This work
will cost around £10,000 and we will need the help of members &
friends to raise this amount as no external grants are available for
this type of work. If you would like to make a donation, however
small, it would be gratefully appreciated. Please send a cheque made
payable to Mottram Cricket Club C/O Peter Jones, 43 Old Road,
Mottram. SK14 6BL. Mobile 07768 443788. Or just see John Flint at
the club.
