Chapel 127 For 2
Mottram 132 For 1
Under 15’s Are The League
Champions Of 2007
This was always
going to be the clash of the titans with both sides fielding a number of
county & district level players & this match lived up to that billing.
Taking first knock Chapel must have fancied their chances when their opening
pair put on 62 when Fitton struck & keeper Irons did a juggling act to catch
Christie at the fifth attempt. Runs continued to flow & the classy Durham
had to retire on 53. The next wicket fell at 118 when Thomas took a fine
catch in the outfield. Chapel’s innings closed at a very respectable 127 for
2 & they were the bookies favourites at that point.
Mottrams
innings had an early set back when Birch was caught for 5 miss hitting a
pull shot. Captain Fitton was joined by school mate Hilton and they set
about chasing the total in a very mature manner - taking good singles &
punishing the bad deliveries. After a shaky start the stylish Fitton took
control & retired on an excellent 50. Hilton was joined by the aggressive
hitting Nixon & the pair set about the bowling with a flurry of 4’s & 6’s &
they saw Mottram home with five overs to spare. Hilton, who held the innings
together, finished on an excellent 38 not out & Nixon finished with a
thumping 25 not out. Well done Ryan & all the lads for such a great victory.
