Category: -Please Choose- CommentsGood website! Great info' about all the players and great pics. Excellent to find out about my mates from school and where they started cricket. Best of luck to Mottram in the new 2006 season (when it starts, especially to Raz Nixon, Nick Hemmings and all the lads at West Hill! From Matty Lewis
Category: General CommentsI read your article on the legend Jim Handforth. He taught me at St. Andrews in 1958 and I was friends with him for the next 25 years until I left for the USA in 1984. I now live in Phoenix City, Alabama, USA but like to keep up with what is happening around my old stomping grounds. I like your web page, it is simple to use. Thanks for the memories.
Category: Club CommentsJust a thought in preparation for the new season. Nets have started and its great to be back playing cricket with some great people. Lets hope the club can pull together and move in a forward direction in the forthcoming season. Hope to see everyone at nets or sometime in the near future
Category: General CommentsHello All, I hope this finds everyone fit and well and in good shape for the forthcoming season. I'll let you know that you've got an extremely good cricketer in Dan Kendrick. you only need ask him.....no seriously he can bat at a brisk pace and bowl tight but aggressive overs so you'll get some good value out of him if a certain Richard Windsor doesn't lead him too far a stray.I'm now in Melbourne after a promotion with my work and its a rocking little place so I'm enjoying it.Special hello to me Aussie mate connors. Get yourself on the park big lad. Loved to hear from you guys so please e mail me and we'll catch up. Goodluck and I'm praying for clear skies and hard wickets.Cheers Wally. PS Let me guess Birchy from the pose and the intensity in your face it was Frank Sinatra....

Category: General CommentsNow then...! Was nice to catch up some of the lads on Saturday whilst watching the rain come down at Mottram. I must say, I was totally gobsmacked at walking into the club to find a sober Rik Windsor actually serving behind the bar...my faith was restored however when the comment of "Now then Boooch, what's all this about you playing elsewhere this season!?" Christ, 4 games in and he's only just realised...did he think it was just taking me longer than usual to get changed..!!?? Anyway, looks like you've had a pretty good start so keep it up...best of luck and I'll catch you all soon! PS: Umpires are not particularly good at LBW over here in Sheffield either, and there's not even a chance at getting away with a mis-timed sweep shot...triggered!!!
CommentsWell batted Stef on monday night. A great 100 an hopefully many more to come. Keep winning whilst I am away!
Category: General CommentsIN PRAISE OF FAZZER. Mottram 1st XI are enjoying a fabulous season to date with skipper Paul Marshall clearly bringing out the best in team members when it really matters and there have been occasions when all has seemed lost only for somebody to come to the fore and rescue the situation. Nobody has done this more than Neal Fazackerley who at 46 years of age has been quite remarkable this term. I have had the absolute pleasure of playing in the same side as Neal for thirty years and have witnessed many many of his achievements but the way he has performed this year and should he continue to do so he could realise his best ever season. A Neal Fazackerley innings is not a thing of technical excellence or is necessarily pleasing on the eye but is nearly always high tempo and rich in improvisation and great skill. Fazzer has consistently turned games on their head with both bat and ball and his partnership breaking prowess has won countless games for Mottram. Neal's fielding skills have always been a big part of his game and age does not seem to be having any detrimental influence on those attributes. I once went on record as extolling the all round virtues of Andy Kings making him the best cricketer i have played with at Mottram but for sheer longevity and consistency Fazzer is right up there with the best and long may it continue. Category: General CommentsA thoroughly enjoyable read. I hope Dan doesn't corrupt the whole club. (Yes he does have a way with words, colourful isn't he). He thought he could drink a bit until he met you lot. Very pleased he may have a hand in you guys stepping up next season. Good Luck to you all. Yes Jeff, he's very colourful, he may not be able to match our drinking, but he and the boy Windsor are certainly winning hands down in the flatulence competition, those guys smell bad! Paul.
